More about me
When David was in middle school, he didn’t have the same level of math skills or expertise as his peers. He viewed their levels as insurmountable goals, which intimidated him and drove him off of competition math for a long time. Even when he eventually started in 8th grade, he didn’t achieve glowing results, and performed worse than expected. However, he stayed persistent, and as he grew and matured, he was able to achieve and surpass his goals, and is on track to be captain of the school’s mathematics team in junior year. From this experience, he learned that his success was hindered by limitations he put on himself, and he would therefore encourage others to find confidence to make the first step.
Currently studying at Richard Montgomery High School, an IB world school, David is taking courses in precalculus, statistics, and computer science. Outside of school courses, he engages heavily in contest mathematics, participating in the school Math Team and creating a community for like-minded peers who are also interested in contest math. He has also participated in USACO and the Lockheed Martin CodeQuest competition. In addition, he participates in the First Tech Challenge robotics competition. In his spare time, he enjoys playing piano and solving puzzles.
Looking ahead, David aims to consolidate his passion in mathematics and engineers to co-design a more innovative and sustainable future in the area of environmental and aerospace engineering.
