zixuan JIANG
Zixuan Jiang, or Claire, seeks and finds unusual insights in everyday phenomena. This exploration started in her 7th grade physics class, as she began to develop her understanding of the laws of physics. Once she was playing on swings with her friends, she got carried away with the question of how to swing higher, as her mind traveled to energy conservation — a topic that she had recently studied in 9th grade physics class. Such momentary questions encourage her to explore all aspects of human knowledge. Over time, she has developed into an impact-oriented, curious, aspiring engineer who aims to improve the quality of life for everyone.
More about me
In 10th grade, after finishing her Student Council President campaign speech, she checked her phone and discovered the most influential and respected senior in her school criticizing her on WeChat, accusing her of taking credit for endeavors she never participated in. For a moment, she doubted her qualifications and contributions to an organization she was poised to lead. Disoriented, she avoided people and grew reluctant to go to school. However, time and reflection helped her ease the pain. In retrospection, she realized she had done nothing wrong: the senior was simply not aware of her contributions. She gradually discovered that her self-imposed limitations and a fear of authority held her back. From that moment on, she embraced all challenges with her most authentic and energetic self. Now, within her TedX Core Team, she boldly articulates her ideas. Simultaneously, she is more confident in recognizing gaps in her mindset.
At school, she initiated an activity called Shuxiang Xiaoyuan to turn the school into a positive reading atmosphere. She organized an online punch group and offline reading club activities, and presently, about 20 people punch in daily to read. In addition, some classmates and her are organizing a TEDx event at our school. As a member of the core team and curation department, her responsibilities include coaching speakers on their talks and managing the event. Furthermore, she set up an engineering club called World Shaper. The club has been open for two semesters so far and is rated as an A-level club with 12 members. The club made a go-kart and an Eyeball-shaped door lock, with blinking, rotating and other mobile capabilities as well as face recognition and AI-enabled voice communication capabilities. She hopes that through the organization, the members can have some experience and inspiration, so that they have the ability to do a project from scratch and realize their own creativity.
For Claire, university is just a starting point. Looking ahead, she wants to consolidate her academic foundation, grow her understanding of the world, and meet inspiring and challenging friends there. For her career, she hopes to develop technologies that will help alleviate the gap and improve lives worldwide.
